This is one of the very best images in our collection of our families of old. This wedding group features the following members of the Edwin Wilson family (Edwin was a son of John Bowman Wilson); those appearing are, Back Row of men standing – Jack Little (best man), bridegroom Ernest James Wilson (no relation), Albert Corry Wilson (Corrie); Ladies seated – Lillian May Wilson, Catherine Frances Wilson (bride), Eileen Hazel Wilson; Man seated – Edwin Wilson, father of the bride.
This excellent group image is of the wedding party for Lillian May Wilson’s (Catherine’ sister) marriage to Theodore Troedson in October 1912. It shows:- left to right males – the first two not identified but probably Theodore’s younger brother and father, bridegroom Theodore, bride’s father Edwin Wilson, best man Duncan Chapman; left to right ladies – Eileen Wilson (sister), bride Lillian, and bridesmaid Ellen L Troedson (sister of bridegroom).
Yet other images such as that of the football team below inform us about the part our family members played in the communities in which they lived. In this image we see the Mornington Football team of 1927; John Edwin Wilson, son of Ellen Wilson (John Bowman Wilson & Agnes Eliza’s daughter) stands in the back row fifth from the right. John Edwin was the brother of Amy McDonald Wilson and Charles Bowman Wilson, the latter a noted journalist and Councillor in Mornington.
In this image John Edwin is again shown, with his siblings Amy McDonald & Charles Bowman, and parents Ellen nee Wilson and John Wilson – John Wilson is from an unrelated Wilson family.
